kathmandu. Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Indira Rana highlighted men’s special role in the transformation of society.
Attending a special show of the film ‘Bagan’ on Wednesday evening, she said the film has presented a story of a widowed mother, her struggle and responsibility as well as support anticipated from the family and society. ‘Effort has been made to share the feelings of a single mother to the society through the film. It has also explored the intricacies experienced in the journey of life in lack of support from the society and the family’, deputy speaker Rana added.
She further noted that men’s roles were not meant only for lending support to the women but also for discharging the roles for societal transformation.
‘It has explicitly imparted a message that a single mother should survive a new life. The message will play the role to transform our existing societal values’, Rana shared. Political leaders along with artists were also present in the special show.
After watching the movie, film artist Ramesh Uprety commented that he could not stop his tears in some scenes of the movie. Actress Karishma Manandhar said she agreed to take her role as a character and also collaborate in the manufacturing of the film only after thoroughly reading the story.
‘The movie encourages the single mothers – who are being deprived of surviving an independent life – to have a new lease of life’, Manandhar added. She urged the audience to watch the movie with family members. Actress Pramila Karki who debuted her acting career from this movie reflected that it was both excitement and fear while working in the movie.
Lyricist Suresh Wagle said the lyrics played crucial role in effectively telling the story of the movie. Khanal who directed the movie with his three-decade plus acting experience said he preferred to present himself as a story-teller in the movie. ‘I have simply brought together the story and characters. I request the audience to see the movie with family members”.
Noted artists, Akash Shrestha, Neer Shah, Basundhara Bhusal and Mithila Sharma were cast in the movie.
